Full Professor in the field of Applied Mathematics at the University of Oviedo, where he has developed his entire academic career since 1990 and is a member of the GICONSIME research group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He holds a degree in Mining Engineering (1989) and a PhD in Mining Engineering from the University of Oviedo. The doctoral thesis, Eliminaci\u00f3n de polvo respirable en minas subterr\u00e1neas de carb\u00f3n por medio de generadores de niebla<\/mark><\/a><\/strong><\/em> (1994), was supervised by Prof. Julio Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez D\u00edaz and Prof. Blas Arganda Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was appointed Lecturer in 1996 and promoted to Full Professor in 2016. His teaching activity has focused on mathematics, numerical methods and engineering-related subjects across different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research activity focuses on numerical simulation, including finite element and finite volume methods, computational fluid dynamics, and the modelling of complex physical and engineering systems. Additional lines of work include atmospheric aerosols, environmental modelling, and advanced data analysis using machine learning techniques such as support vector machines and neural networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His scientific output includes more than 150 publications in high-impact international journals and a similar number of contributions to national and international conferences, along with extensive participation in competitive research projects and collaborations with industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His profile also includes significant technology transfer activity, with several national and international patents and applied developments in areas such as structural analysis, environmental modelling and industrial processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has supervised several doctoral theses and has been actively involved in academic management, evaluation activities and international scientific collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
