GICONSIMESustainable Construction, Simulation and Testing Research Group

University of Oviedo

GICONSIME is a consolidated research group of the University of Oviedo dedicated to improving the sustainability of the construction sector by improving the performance of materials and construction systems

GICONSIME carries out its research activity in the area of Engineering and Architecture, combining advanced numerical simulation and experimental characterisation. They use a hybrid methodology that allows them to model using different techniques (FEM, DFM, CFD or VFM), experimentally validate the results and optimise them using different mathematical strategies.

The group was founded under the direction of Juan José de Coz Díaz, Professor of Construction Engineering. It is currently led by Mar Alonso Martínez, full university professor in the area of Construction Engineering.

GICONSIME is made up of a multidisciplinary group of teachers and researchers from the University of Oviedo from different areas: Construction Engineering, Graphic Expression in Engineering and Mechanics of Continuous Media and Theory of Structures, Applied Mathematics, Thermal Machines and Engines and Business Organisation.

GICONSIME collaborates with other national and international universities that complement the development of its research activity. Collaboration with companies and public-private entities also enables technology transfer to industry…

The university campus is part of the Knowledge Mile.
