Lecturer in the field of Construction Engineering at the University of Oviedo since 2008, and member of the GICONSIME research group.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering (1994) and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oviedo. The doctoral thesis, Metodología para el diagnóstico y tratamiento del edificio húmedo. Procesos patológicos. Patología y terapéutica de intervención (2000), was supervised by Prof. Gerónimo Lozano Apolo.
The academic career combines extensive professional experience in engineering consultancy and structural analysis with teaching and applied research at the university.
Research activity focuses on sustainable and industrialised construction, structural timber engineering, construction pathology, and non-destructive testing techniques. Additional work includes the analysis and rehabilitation of historical and industrial buildings, energy-efficient construction systems, and advanced materials and solutions for building systems.
This activity has resulted in a solid research and professional profile, including numerous publications in journals, books and book chapters, as well as extensive participation in research projects and strong collaboration with industry through applied research contracts.
Professional activity includes technical consultancy, forensic engineering analysis and structural assessment for companies and public institutions, addressing real construction problems related to damage diagnosis, rehabilitation, and structural design.
The work is also reflected in several patents and utility models related to construction systems and materials, particularly in prefabrication and structural solutions.
Within GICONSIME, contributions focus on sustainable construction, timber structures, and the diagnosis and rehabilitation of buildings.
