Lecturer at the University of Oviedo in the field of Construction Engineering since 2024, and member of the Sustainable Construction, Simulation and Testing Research Group (GICONSIME), accredited by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI).
He holds a PhD from the University of Oviedo, with the dissertation «Análisis del comportamiento acústico mediante simulación numérica de la interacción fluído estructura« (2009), supervised by Prof. Juan José del Coz Díaz and Prof. Paulino José García Nieto.
Between 2006 and 2015, he worked as a researcher on projects for the University of Oviedo Foundation (FUO), the IUTA, the University of Cantabria (ETSICCP), and the University of Oviedo (EPI Gijón), as well as a Project Engineer at Advanced Simulation Technologies S.L., focusing on initiatives related to numerical simulation.
He is currently affiliated with the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón and the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering. He is a member of both IUTA and GICONSIME, where his research focuses on numerical simulation, structural optimization, energy efficiency, sustainability, forensic analysis, and heritage protection. He holds accreditation from ANECA as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Private University Professor, and Full Professor. He has two recognized six-year research periods (2008–2013 and 2014–2019).
He has published 50 articles in indexed journals, with an h-index of 21 in the field of Engineering, participated in over 58 international conferences, supervised 5 doctoral theses, registered 2 patents, collaborated on 28 competitive R&D projects, and carried out more than 90 research contracts with companies and institutions.
He has served on the scientific committee of the International Conference on Recent Advances in Nonlinear Models – Design and Rehabilitation of Structures (CoRASS 2017 and 2019), on the ANEP evaluation committee (2020), and is a regular reviewer for JCR journals such as Building and Environment and Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier).
His experience includes numerical simulations and wind tunnel testing of building and civil engineering structures, as well as studies on acoustic insulation, thermal conductivity and inertia, energy efficiency, structural resistance, and fire performance of construction elements.
