Lecturer in the field of Construction Engineering at the University of Oviedo, where he has been Associate Professor since 2009 and is a member of the GICONSIME research group.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering (2000) and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oviedo. The doctoral thesis, Diseño de una aplicación modular de CAD y análisis de su empleo en la mejora de la calidad docente (2003), was supervised by Prof. Pedro Ignacio Álvarez Peñín.
The academic career has been developed within the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering, combining teaching, applied research and innovation-oriented activities.
Research activity focuses on additive manufacturing, generative design, biomimicry, and virtual reality, with applications in industrial design, sustainable construction and advanced engineering solutions.
This work has resulted in publications in international journals, participation in numerous competitive research projects, and the development of applied technologies and methodologies linked to digital design and fabrication.
A distinctive feature of the profile is the strong commitment to innovation and knowledge transfer, including participation in spin-offs related to generative design, serious games and additive manufacturing, as well as collaboration with industry through applied projects.
He is also the founder and director of MediaLab at the University of Oviedo, an interdisciplinary platform for innovation, prototyping and collaboration between university, industry and society, promoting projects with social and technological impact.
International experience includes research stays at institutions such as University College London and the University of Edinburgh, contributing to the development of research and teaching activities in ecodesign and digital technologies.
Within GICONSIME, contributions focus on additive manufacturing, generative design and the integration of digital technologies into sustainable construction and engineering processes.
