DESCRIPTION
This knowledge and technology transfer project was developed in collaboration between GICONSIME and TK Airport Solutions to analyse the aerodynamic behaviour of passenger boarding bridges under wind loading.
The project focuses on determining realistic aerodynamic drag coefficients for boarding bridges, both in parking and operating conditions, combining advanced numerical simulations with experimental wind tunnel testing. This approach allows for a better understanding of wind‑structure interaction effects beyond the conservative assumptions adopted in current design standards.
By integrating computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling and experimental validation, the project provides technical support for safer and more efficient structural design, supporting industrial decision‑making and the application of academic research to real engineering solutions.
